The following reflects the fees for the 2020 summer program. The total charges for APTLI include tuition, housing, and meals are described below. This also includes the mandatory student activity fee which provides access to the gyms and city bus system. Textbook costs vary by class and are not included in that amount. International students will likely have additional SEVIS fees and mandatory health insurance requirements that are set by the University.

Tuition for summer 2020 is $5,000. After being admitted to APTLI and registering for summer classes at UW-Madison, students receive an electronic tuition bill from the Bursar’s Office. Payments are made directly to the Bursar, via check, electronic bank transfer or credit card. The tuition payment deadline is listed on the email bill – there is a $100 fee for late tuition payments. APTLI is not part of the CIC Traveling Scholars program.

Room & Board

PLEASE NOTE: For 2020, students will not be housed in UW-Madison dorms, but will stay at their home of record for the remote summer session!

The room & board fee for summer 2019 was $2,500 for a double occupancy room. After being admitted to the program, within 3 weeks students make a non-refundable $250 deposit towards the room & board fee to hold the spot. The remainder of the room & board is due in June. Payments can be made via credit card on our website, or by mailing a check to APTLI. A limited number of single rooms are usually available upon request, for an additional fee ($500 for 2019).

Transcript Fee

A new student transcript fee will be charged by UW-Madison to any student who has never taken a course at UW-Madison. The fee is $65 and will be assessed only one time per student, with the benefit of unlimited transcript orders. If you have already taken a course at UW-Madison, you should not have to pay the fee.
